Certificates of origin

Every pocket monster is recorded the moment it is created, and the record is sealed so it cannot be changed afterwards. Look up any pocket monster and check for yourself.

You'll find the ID on the pocket monster's card in the game, under Origin.

Current ledger state

New records are sealed into a signed batch about once a minute. Each batch commits to the one before it, so the whole history is pinned end to end.

What is sealed

A pocket monster's species, its rolled stats, whether it is shiny, where and when it was caught, and who caught it. These are fixed at creation and are what a certificate commits to.

What may change

Level and species are recorded as they were at birth, but both move legitimately — levelling up and evolving are not tampering, and are never flagged as such.

What this does and doesn't prove

This is a signed, append-only ledger that we operate — not a blockchain. It makes edits detectable, not impossible: the records are held here and signed with our key, and they are not anchored to any outside system. That is precisely why the current state is published above for you to keep a copy of.
