Earn Gold from farming and spend it at NPC shops (balls, potions, stones) or the player auction house, where you can buy and sell pocket monsters, items, and Star Shards for Gold.

Direct friend trades are pocket-monster-only: Gold and Star Shards are never part of a friend trade. Friend trading also requires an established friendship and is limited by a cooldown, keeping the economy healthy and social.
